Matthew 18:1-10

Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven (18:3).

Safe In The Arms Of Jesus

One time after Dr. Huber Drumwright had delivered the morning sermon in our church, he said to me, “Let me tell you something that you do not know. There is a professor who loves you with all his heart. He and his wife had a son who was born sickly and weak, and as the years passed he became quite frail. In his last months he was kept at home and watched over by his loving mother.

“One day as the boy neared his eighth birthday, he and his mother were listening to you preach on television. When the service was over the boy turned to his mother and said, ‘I want to be saved just like that. I want Jesus to come into my heart.’ The mother picked up the frail child in her arms and explained to him how God had spoken to his heart. She carefully went over the plan of salvation, and the boy gave his heart in repentance and trust to Jesus. And the little fellow died in his mother’s arms, and in the arms of Jesus.”

Safe in the arms of Jesus,

Safe on His gentle breast,

There by His love o’ershadowed

Sweetly my soul shall rest.

[Fanny J. Crosby]

Dr. Drumwright added, “You see now why the professor and his wife so deeply love you.”

If you love a child, you show love for Jesus. If you minister to a child, you minister to the Lord. If you are kind to a little child, you are kind to the Savior. Somehow our hearts are bound up in the life of a child.
